Mother's Brownies

From Southern Living Annual Recipes 1993

Ingredients:

Brownies
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Chocolate Frosting
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 1/2 tbsp cocoa
2 tbsp butter, melted
 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp milk or half and half (until desired consistency)
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
Combine butter and sugar in a large bowl; stir in eggs and vanilla. combine flour, cocoa and salt; stir into butter mixture.Stir in pecans. Pour into greased and floured 8 inch square pan. Bake at 325 for 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Spread Chocolate frosting over top. Cut into squares. Yields: 16 brownies.
