Tasty Green Beans

Ingredients:
2 pounds fresh green beans, rinsed and trimmed
2 tbsp light butter
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup low sodium beef broth
1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add green beans and cook for 5 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water.
Melt butter in a large saucepan over high heat. Add onions and garlic . Saute until onions are tender and garlic is lightly browned. Toss in the green beans. Stir in soy sauce, beef broth and sugar (optional). Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
